AP and Honours at Westwood!

Unlock Exceptional Academic Opportunities at Westwood!

At Westwood, we proudly offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses — a globally respected academic program that allows high school students to engage with university-level material and potentially earn college credit before graduation. AP courses encourage students to think critically, communicate effectively, and develop the advanced skills needed for long-term academic success.

To help students build toward this level of achievement, Westwood offers Honours courses in core subjects for grades 7 through 11. These classes provide motivated learners with enriched content, a faster pace, and the foundational skills necessary to transition confidently into AP-level work.

This structured pathway — from Honours to AP — gives Westwood students a clear academic advantage. It opens the door to greater challenges, enhanced university readiness, and the chance to stand out in the competitive post-secondary admissions process.

Registration for the 2025–26 school year is still open, and a few spots remain. Don’t miss this opportunity to set your child on a path toward excellence — connect with us today to learn more!

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
